Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, Jr., reiterated yesterday his commitment to invest up to P700 million for the establishment of a central business district in the city in the next three years. Through Belmonte’s initiative, the City Council passed Resolution No. 3050 in September 2005, declaring the North and East Triangles and the Veterans Memorial area as location of the central business district. President Arroyo, through Executive Order No. 620, declared these areas as urban development model in Metro Manila to serve as a basic guide in creating more areas of competitive advantage for economic growth in different areas nationwide. Early this week, the city’s newest shopping mall, the TriNoma Ayala, was formally opened as the North Triangle central business district. TriNoma accommodates more than 350 stores and 3,500 parking slots for shoppers and visitors. Belmonte also vowed to pursue without letup the initiative of attracting more investors to infuse fresh capital in the city. |
